DESIGN DIRECTION & ILLUSTRATION

Who is that pictured throughout the activity guide?

That’s Belle da Costa Greene, a graduate of Princeton University who John Pierpont Morgan hired as his personal librarian in 1905, she later became the Morgan’s first director. With her academic knowledge and negotiating savvy, she helped establish the Morgan as one of America’s greatest libraries of rare books and manuscripts. Belle is illustrated here as a guide to help children explore the museum while they complete a variety of activities.
